Berwick Advertiser 9/3/1811 On Monday se'nnight one of the workmen employed at the new gaol at Durham, fell from the scaffolding and fractured his skull; he was conveyed to the infirmary on the elastic frame and bed, lately presented by H.U. Reay, Esq.

Berwick Advertiser 28/11/1812 Felons Extraordinary!- There are at present confined in Durham gaol, a prisoner for felony, at the age of 10 years; another nearly 90; and a female, possessed of £150,000, for stealing an article not worth more than eighteen pence!!!
