By an Order in Council, gazetted on the 2nd April, 1912, part of the ecclesiastical parish of Seaham Harbour, St. John, containing 1,023 families (or separate occupiers) and 9,096 population at the date of the Census, was constituted the new ecclesiastical parish of Dawdon, St. Hild and St. Helen.
