Church

St. Oswin's is an ecclesiastical parish, formed on Oct. 12th, 1903, out of St. Michael's, South Westoe, and All Saints, West Harton. The church, in Stanhope road, erected in 1910 at a cost of £4,000, at present (1920) consists of three bays of the nave: there are 320 sittings. The register dates from the year 1904. The living is a vicarage, net yearly value £350, in the gift of the Crown and the Bishop of Durham alternately, and held since 1904 by the Rev. Arthur Bowcock L.Th. of Hatfield Hall, Durham.
