By an Order in Council, gazetted on the 17th May, 1912, part of the ecclesiastical parish of Holmside, St. John, containing 920 families (or separate occupiers) and 5,070 population, and part of the ecclesiastical parish of Beamish, St. Andrew, containing 453 families (or separate occupiers) and 2,206 population at the date of the Census, were constituted the new ecclesiastical parish of South Moor, St. Geo. The new parish is situated in the civil parishes of Kyo, Oxhill, South Moor, and Stanley.
