Church

The church of St. Peter, standing on a commanding eminence, is a modern stone edifice, consisting of nave, and tower containing 2 bells. The register extant dates from the year 1759. The living is a rectory, net yearly value £340, in the gift of the Dean and Chapter of Durham, and held by the Rev. William Eade, M.A., of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. [Kelly's Directory of Durham and Northumberland (1873), page 291.]

A stone in the entrance reads:

CONSECRATED 1876
EXTENDED 1972
