The chapel of All Saints, erected in 1837, on the site of an ancient Norman structure, is a building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave of three bays, aisles, south porch and an embattled tower containing 2 bells: the interior of the church was entirely restored in 1888, when the chancel was richly decorated and seven stained memorial windows erected: the octagonal font now in use is of 14th century workmanship, and was formerly in the parish church of Embleton: there are 140 sittings. The register dates from the year 1769. The living is a vicarage, with that of Rock annexed, joint net yearly value about £145, with residence, in the gift of the vicar of Embleton, and held since 1886 by the Rev. William Robert Finch M.A. of King's College, Cambridge. [Kelly's Directory of Durham and Northumberland (1890), page 1025.]
