EP 50/5 Baptisms & Burials 1774-1812

An historical note at the front notes:

The Chapel of Whittonstall was a Chapel of Ease to Bywell St Peter, till, being augmented by Queen Anne's bounty, it was legally and duly severed from it, in the year 1774, when it became a Parochial Chapel.- The dates of the Marriages, Births and Burials of the inhabitants belonging to the said Chapelry (previous to the year 1774) are to be sought for in the Register of Bywell St Peter:- But from and after Easter-day 1774, all the aforesaid particulars will be duly recorded in the Register-books belonging to the said Chapel of Whittonstall.

NB The Revd John Ellison (who was the first Minister of this Chapel after it was sever'd from Bywell St Peter) read in here on Sunday the 27th day of March 1774.
