Church

The church of St. Michael is a neat, cruciform stone building in the Early English style: has a nave, chancel and transepts; it contains several neat tablets, and stained glass window: the transepts are very old, and the tower is of the 7th century: the present nave and chancel were built in 1767; the church was restored in 1869: the large windows of the period 1767 were replaced by Early English windows: the church was reseated throughout, and the floor lowered to the original level. The register dates from the year 1695. The living is a vicarage, yearly value £540, with residence, held by the Rev. George Cruddas, M.A. of Lincoln College, Oxford (Crewe Exhibitioner), to whom the advowson belongs; the Rev. P. Bennett, B.A. of Trinity College, Dublin, is the present curate of Warden.
