Church

In January 1905 the Mission church of St. Andrew was erected and dedicated. It was affectionately known as the the 'Tin Church' by the people of the Hirst. Thirty years later the present fine brick building was completed in 1932. St. Andrew's remains a daughter church of St. John's, Seaton Hirst. [The Newcastle Diocesan Gazetteer (1982), page 118.]
