Church

The temporary church is a plain brick building, but a site has been obtained, and efforts are being made to erect a church in the district. The register dates from the year 1860. The living is a rectory, yearly value £185, in the gift of the Crown and the bishop of the diocese alternately, and held by the Rev. Elias Henry Augustine geake, B.A., of Trinity College, Dublin. [Kelly's Directory of Northumberland and Durham (1873), page 686.]
